Apply some layer styles to our newly created layer.
I thought that we will do this one without grabbing a pen but think different).
Create a new layer and chose a basic 1 or 2 px brush.
Now, the task here is to create small surface lights. Surface lights are the top light gamma spots that stay on the very edge of the object.
I’ll finally do some color correction and text.
I will use only layer style on my text – Outer Glow, Mode: screen, Color: white.
And we are done here. Enjoy.

I'm sorry, but this doesn't look that great. All you did was apply a bunch of filters... so there really isn't anything to be learned in this tutorial

I could never get the ink outline filter to work with mine properly. I went back to the tutorial several times and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong.

Hmm, why is this called sea illustration? It looks not a bit like anything sea or ocean related and applying a bunch of filters on differen layers in Photoshop is really not that innovative....

The end product is beautiful but I found it nearly impossible to follow your instructions. For the most part you slapped screenshots without clearly explaining what you did. Tutorials like this should be more user-friendly.

The explanation could have been better. Like u said 'make a further selection', in fact should have been 'make a feather selection'. The result is tempting though.
