Hallo again students! Today the topic of our discussion and the tutorial itself will a quick, about 1 h sketch if the character. This will be a female character and we will be using a tablet to paint this one, because there are no way you going to make it using a mere mouse.
Let's get starting.
Create a document about this size. It has the 4:3 proportions so you can create 800x 600, 1024x768 and so on.
Create a new layer because I usually leave background untouched.
Choose a brush. This is my favorite brush. It is similar to basic round brush but it is a little bit flattened on the sides. It has opacity jitter set to pen pressure and size dynamics without any settings (but still the option is turned on.
Begin the sketch. Here I'm defining the posture and the proportions of the character.
Well something like this; a one very fast line sketch.
Now set the brush opacity to about so.
Let's begin to deal with the value. To set the value right takes not 1 year to understand and to set it right. Moreover I'm still studying and understanding this technique.
I'm beginning to set my value from a little darker than midtones.
In this part I'm dropping some darker mids; not on the whole character but only on the part of his leg.
And on the character itself now.
I've erased the face because I didn't like it at all. I've also moved it a little bit to the left.
