Fire and Flame Text Effect

Burning typography using the Smudge Tool, Liquify filter, and orange-to-yellow gradient maps for explosive flame letterforms.

Step 1: Create Base Text

Black background, 800×600px. Type text in bold font at 110pt, white color.

Step 2: Paint Flame Colors

Rasterize text. Use orange (#ff6600) and yellow (#ffcc00) brushes to paint flame colors inside letters.

Step 3: Smudge Into Flames

Select Smudge Tool, strength 85%, use flame brush tip. Drag upward from letter bases to create flame tongues.

Step 4: Liquify Enhancement

Filter > Liquify. Warp flame edges with Turbulence and Forward Warp tools.

Step 5: Inner Glow Heat

Layer Style Inner Glow: Color #ff3300, Blend Mode Screen, Size 25px, Choke 15%.

Step 6: Outer Flame Glow

Outer Glow: Color #ff6600, Screen, Size 40px, Spread 10%. Duplicate and increase size for halo.

Step 7: Smoke and Sparks

Paint gray smoke wisps above flames at 15% opacity. Add bright spark dots with 2px white brush.
