Poster Design Techniques

Bold typographic poster layout with photo collage, color blocking, and print-ready export settings for events and promotions.

Step 1: Document Setup

Create 18×24 inch document at 300dpi (print) or 1080×1920px for digital. Set bleed at 0.125 inch.

Step 2: Grid and Layout

View > New Guide Layout: 3 columns, 4 rows. Place hero image in top two-thirds.

Step 3: Typography Hierarchy

Headline: bold sans-serif 120pt. Subhead: 48pt. Body: 24pt. Maintain clear visual hierarchy.

Step 4: Color Blocking

Add geometric color blocks behind text for readability. Use complementary colors for impact.

Step 5: Photo Treatment

Apply duotone or high-contrast treatment to hero photo. Add grain texture at 5% for print feel.

Step 6: Detail Elements

Add date, venue, ticket info in footer zone. Include QR code placeholder if needed.

Step 7: Print Export

Save as PDF (Press Quality). Convert fonts to outlines. Include crop marks and bleed.
